Fans demand Kim Kardashian issues Kate Middleton apology after joke before cancer announcement
Kim Kardashian is no stranger to controversy, nor to dividing opinion, but it would seem that the vast majority of her detractors now have something to stand united behind: a desire to see her apologize to Kate Middleton.
Unless you’ve been living under a sizable rock for the duration of 2024, you’ll have read or heard all about the mystifying circumstances regarding the Princess of Wales.
Much of the fog was cleared last Friday when Kate issued a heartfelt video message to announce that she’s battling cancer – this comes after two months of wild speculation discussing the reason for her absence from the public eye since undergoing an abdominal procedure at a London hospital in late January.
Indeed, the internet could hardly help itself but whip up a maelstrom of conspiracy theories where Kate was concerned. They ranged from the plausible to the outright insane, but even the deepest rabbit holes of unsubstantiated rumor were afforded the necessary fire for survival by the general lack of information coming from the Palace.
Things weren’t helped when the first official image of Kate since Christmas (intended to mark Mother’s Day in the UK) was withdrawn by leading photo agencies over concerns that it had been doctored.
The Princess herself later confessed to having “self-edited” the image, but the debacle was enough to ensure anyone who had until that point remained uninterested in the Kate Middleton saga grew suddenly curious. Those who were already curious, meanwhile, slipped down the scale towards hysteria.
And it wasn’t just the general public who got involved to offer opinions or poke fun at the bizarre nature of the royal fiasco playing out. No, a number of celebrities took to the internet to weigh-in in one way or another.
As of Friday and Kate’s cancer announcement, the majority of them have been left scrambling to apologize.
Reality TV star Kim Kardashian finds herself in that group, with fans calling on her say sorry for a joke she made at Kate’s expense. The 43-year-old posted an image to her Instagram last week, along with the caption: “On my way to go find Kate.”
The timing of the her attempt at humor could not have been worse given that it came only a few days prior to Kate’s heartbreaking announcement.
Yet when given the chance to grovel by a photographer asking “Any comments on Kate?” while she was leaving her son Saint’s soccer game, Kim remained silent.
At the time of writing, Kim’s initial Instagram post has not been removed, and there are many people in the comments section who have called on the socialite to at least issue an apology.
“I think an apology is needed!” one person wrote.
Another added: “After the news of her having cancer has been revealed, you should really take this down. It’s extremely insensitive and you owe our princess an apology.“
“Can you please go find an apology instead??” a third chimed.
A fourth said: “As a daughter who lost her Dad to cancer- How dare you?“
“You owe our Princess an apology,” said a fifth.
