German Shepherd is a breed of German origin
As the name suggests, the German shepherd dog or German shepherd dog is a relatively new dog breed. Former cavalry captain and former student of the Berlin Veterinary College, Max von Stephanitz, a member of the Phylax Association, which advocated the development of dog breeds for work, and admired native dogs in Germany, but realized that it was not the breed that fits the perfect working dog of his dream.
In 1899, Stephanitz saw the dog named Hektor Linkhersein, the product of several generations of selective breeding, which he encountered at a demonstration, and thinking that this dog was his dream dog, he bought the dog and changed its name to Horand von Grafrath. He then founded the German Shepherd Dog Association, and Horand was declared the first German shepherd dog and became the first German shepherd to be included in the breed loss register.
