Katy Perry’s futuristic top causes trouble for ‘American Idol’ judge during live episode

Katy Perry narrowly avoided a disastrous wardrobe malfunction Monday during American Idol’s live episode.

The “Daisies” singer’s futuristic top broke right before Roman Collins was set to take the stage to sing James Brown’s “It’s A Man’s Man’s Man’s World.

Take a look at the video below for a behind the scenes look at how Perry avoided the mishap.

During Monday’s episode Perry, 39, wore a custom Kate Barton silver metallic top that gave her some difficulties.

The singer and American Idol judge revealed her top burst open in the back while she was clapping for one of the Top 14 hopefuls.

“I need my top to stay on,” Perry said in a behind the scenes video posted to her Instagram. “If it’s not fixed, this show is going to get more than it wanted.”

While the crew attempted to fix Perry’s top, Luke Bryan made an effort to help, but promptly gave up.

At that point Perry’s only option was to kneel behind the judge’s table and cover herself with a pillow.

“Ratings! Here we come ratings!” both Bryan and Lionel Richie yelled as Perry continued to conceal herself.
